[2016] We are in need of a shower.
#1
Hey there! We are two males and one female from Germany who will visit GalaCon together this year. It looks like there will be no shower at the place we will stay at. So we are wondering if anybody who will stay at a hotel or similar in or around Ludwigsburg for GalaCon might be willing to let us use theirs on Saturday and Sunday morning. Ideally we would meet Friday evening and make friends. We may be able to take 2 persons to the con by car with us if the hotel is not in walking distance. Please send me a PM if you can help.

Well, I think you just did. :)

We decided to make this a camping trip. That's all.

I hope you don't plan wild camping, cause that might give you a free shower in a police station ...

the only camping Place in the near of ludwigsburg is in Bad Cannstatt, in the "Neckarpark". as i Know, they have showers. they costs 2€ for not-Camper on that place; for camper it's free.

Before you plan wild-Camping, in our place, you'll will better go there.

If you need mor informations, please look at this Thread.

In that Case, there isn't a official camp this year - it was too loud last year; and many of the "pony-campers" didn't interest the rules, what the placekeeper gave me (as organizer of this camp).

Yes and no.
There is one exception that staying overnight in a camper or travel trailer (not a tent) on a public parking area is allowed for one single night if parking this type of vehicle is allowed at that place. (This doesn't include camping-like activities like using chairs/tables/awnings outside.)
For longer stays, camping activities etc. you need a dedicated parking area for campers or a camping site, which also might have additional services like showers/toilets/electricity.

I don't think we would get a shower there. So, not a reliable solution. :)

Thank you. That sounds interesting. We are considering joining you.

Or, as a friend of mine put it once: There is a difference between camping and accidently falling asleep inside a camper. Also it's no problem on private grounds.

If you're arriving with a caravan, there are even some camper parking places nearby, even with power and water supply.
More info here:

No shower though. Thats what kept me from using it in the past.

Not that it sounds false, but i don't camp this year - 'cause of reasons with the Place-Keeper, i'm stay in the Ibis this year. I don't want the same desaster like last year; that's why it don't give a official Camp this year.

Too bad I'm living a bit too far from Ludwigsburg. I could offer a free shower in need. :(
Is there anybody here living near Ludwigsburg or knows someone who can offer as well? Hmm...

I might possibly perhaps maybe would be able to work something out. Don't want to promise too much. The biggest problem is the timing of it all. How early would you like to shower?

---Update---
If you still haven't figured something out I am sure we can make something work. Gonna pull a few strings with my friends. We're all housing at the nestor hotel, so basically right behind the Gala. Last year I had a friend shower in my room, I am certain we can make three people work. *If* you still haven't found another way.

I'm also in the Nestor and there is a shower in my room. Makes two of them at the same place.

Thank you both very much for the offers! Our current plan is to go to Stuttgart and use the campsite's showers if we don't find anything better. The nestor would certainly be a more convenient solution for us. Of course we would share the room costs. I don't know yet how early the others will want to shower, but I'm sure we can make it fit to your plans. I would prefer to shower around 8 in the morning. But as I said, that's not a requirement.

Oh, and: We are four now.

According to Bronies.de, there is quite a few in that hotel. And as flour guard, i can't go anywhere else.
It is OK from my side.

Great! Is there anybody else who would have to give their OK? If you want, I could PM you my phone number or e-mail address or something so we can text or phone on GalaCon Friday or early on Saturday. Also, well, I know I may be testing your kindness here. But that's not my intent. So don't feel forced to agree or talked into offering something! But: One of us will have to take some time in front of a mirror for cosplay makeup. If all of this is absolutely no problem for you, let me know and I'll PM you.

We'd like to thank everybody for their offers! In the end, we had more offers than heads. We appreciate also those that we turned down. I also learned that there were quite a few people sleeping outside or in their cars, some even camping on the overfilled parking area across the street. I asked a few an they didn't think they needed to shower. I was very happy to be able to though.

I'm don't know where I will stay next year. But since I usually stay at a hotel during GalaCon, anybody feel free to ask me if you need a shower at future GalaCons.
