How about music like by Roger Cicero? Don't mind the german texts, some of his songs are quite danceable I think. Or would be at least a good filler for dancing breaks.

Music by bigger artists like Cicero would skyrocket the GEMA fee (I'll forward the request it to the event team)

Maybe CalaCon has a different agreement or the gala evening is only partially covered, but normally, the GEMA fee - if you pay it - should be some kind of flat-rate which depends only on the size, place and time, not the individual artists.
I'm not a fan of Roger Cicero, but you can ask the event organizers anyway.

Well, you have to pay them nothing at all if you go with independent music. If there is only one song popping up covered by GEMA, you have to pay that expensive flatrate fee... And there is also GVL who want your money.

The GEMA is allowed to task YOU with tasking the ARTIST to prove to the GEMA that their stuff is none of their business.

So we'd have to ask every single composer in the fandom to fill out the form supplied by the GEMA and then send it back to the GEMA.
Because the GEMA has the right to assume everything has to be paid for. (Which is like assuming every person is guilty unless proven innocent. You catch my drift.)

And that's one reason why I said, the friggin govenrment needs to flip the friggin GEMA over. It's about friggin time.

Thats why I hope as many free artists as possible will join the c3s (Cultural Commons Collecting Society), they're an alternative artists collecting society to the GEMA and simillar societies in other countries. They aim to provide a fair and modern payment system for public use of artist work.

And most important: Once they're established, the GEMA no longer has a monopoly on artist payments, thus no more automatic GEMA member assumptions!

Is there only going to be gala(-ish) music at the gala? Or is there going to be party music too?

Seriously? If you want party music then you should go to the disco that takes place at the same time because the gala event will be playing fancy music only.

Jeez! Just wanted to know something. Don't have to give me a sassy reaction.

I was just wondering since it's long known that disco and gala will take place at the same time this year and not one after another like in the past.

I understand there will be two rooms for the danceing. One with the gala music, and one with the more moddern music. (or would it change gradually during the evning, from formal to soft rave? not sure)
My question though is: Will there be an opurtunity to get changed? I can't really see myself jumping around a dancefloor, getting sweaty in formal wear... Is there a wardrobe to hang your tux when the beat drops, or can you even leave a bag in that wardrobe and get changed in a bathroom or something, or would I have to go back to the hotell, or does the dresscode apply to both parts of the party?

Sorry if I'm rambling... I should sleep...

The is no extra changing room sorry. You could pack some things in a backpack and give it to the coat check people at the entrance and get changed in the bathroom.

There will be a place for the Gala with formal wear and a extra hall for the rave with normal wear.

Ah nice, tutorials to dancing. The thing I didn't want to try last year, as I didn't really know how. I'll give these a view, and maybe this year I could join in. Happy

First post has been updated with this year's dresscode! It's pretty much the same like last year, alas the topic about shoes has been pointed out.

Feel free to ask questions or post your ball outfit here!
